The Armory kits probably sit somewhere in the middle and have been made with the all-round, pop, rock and everything in between kind of drummer in mind. While this Emerald Burst coated six-piece shell-set doesn't come with cymbals or a hardware pack, the high-grade build and finish gives you more than enough for your cash, and the absence of all those trimmings leaves this kit wide open for full customisation.

The Mapex Armory MXAR628SCTK Shell Set

Shaped using a combination of maple, birch and ash, each of the 7.2mm thick shells have an birch outer layer and maple inner layer. This considered construction ensures a balanced, focussed response backed up by a rich tonality and outstanding articulation where the birch gives the overall tone a high-end boost while the maple give the mid-frequencies an even presence. This kit comes with two 10" x 8" hanging toms, two 12" x 9" toms, a 14" x 14" and 16" x 16" floor tom, a 22" x 18" kick drum, and a 14" x 5.5" Tomahawk Steel snare drum.

Mapex SONIClear Tension Hoops

Each shell has been mounted with chrome-plated shell hardware, and the optimised projection and resonance provided by a set of SONIClear floor tom legs, SONIClear tom mounts, and a full pack of pre-fitted SONIClear tension hoops that make better contact with the drum head. These hoops don't just enhance the sound, but ensure streamlined and quick tuning.
